Cyber-kei (Cyber Fashion)

Street fashion fad has been closely related to music and it is not unusual to see a new trend starting from clubs. In fact, the Madonna style with tons of accessories in the 80’s at discos or hip hop and skater fashions in the 90’s were just some examples to display the relationship between fashion and music. Entering into the 21st century, clubs were divided into different genres mainly into techno and trance music from the UK and R&B from the USA. Nowadays, R&B clubs seem to lose its popularity while electro/industrial music evolved from techno and trance is attracting more attentions. The characteristics of cyber fashion is to use materials such as metals, plastic, vinyl, and rubber to create futuristic and Sci-Fi styles focusing on silver, gold, metallic and florescent
colors. In addition, integrating comic books, animation, and game characters, cyber pop can be concluded as Japan’s own unique fashion style.
